You’ve already seen “Daring Don’t”, or read the script?
I was talking about the “increased their profits tenfold” part of your comment, actually; I realized too late that I should’ve been more specific.
That’s funny, I don’t recall anyone ever “demanding” ANYTHING. And who said the majority of the fandom gives a shit that Hasbro wants to increase their target demographic to include older girls by appealing to the “Monster High” crowd with Equestria Girls?
No one but the total wackjobs really care, dude. Most of us just like the show for what it is, and are grateful and find it super cool of them when they do make references or merchandise with older fans in mind.
including cross-eyed Durr-pee
They did put quite a few cameos, and in-jokes for older fans in the E.G. movie though.
Still, the fandom didn’t appear to have any effect on Equestria girls or such. The plot was mostly definetly not designed for anyone over the age of 10. And I doubt season 4 will show any of the things bronies demanded. Closest you’ll get is the Daring Don’t episode where the writers are basically saying “shut the fuck up and stop telling us how to do our jobs”
Don’t forget merch’ of obscure-yet-popular characters like DJ PON-3. (Which was also one of her fanon names originally.) She only appears once a season, and she has more merch’ then Rarity & Applejack.
…are you serious? Have you been living under a rock, or something?
Just go browse the “merchandise” tag, for fuck’s sake. The fact that they re-made the talking Celestia doll in white (which greatly increased sales of that toy) is enough on its own, let alone the fact that they’ve licensed Funko and WeLoveFine to make additional product for them. Then there’s Derpy being the SDCC pony, the existence of a Queen Chrysalis toy, and the fact that the comic books even exist AT ALL…
[citation needed]
Except for the fact that they already HAVE taken the adult fan base into account on several occasions, which has increased their profits tenfold.
Indeed, but at least some of the older drama died off by now. It’ll still take “Twilicorn” & the E.G. movie drama some time. (But at least even those aren’t as bad as they used to be months ago.)
uuugh. Well, at least we can have consolation that we’ve always had drama. Swelling numbers simply must’ve made it impossible to confine to certain web sites/deviant art groups
Indeed, seems nobody learned anything from the “Derpygate” situation (where both sides of the argument overreacted) which almost got our beloved Derpster removed from the show…
Unfortunately, there seems to be no direct way of stifling those delusional morons.
We just can’t have nice things.
It doesn’t help, the minority are getting quite militant… Some are making internet petitions, (we all know how well those work) hate-clubs, and movements with the sole purpose of protesting the show’s recent “controversial” directions in the past year, or hating on Hasbro, (some saying they want to commit violent protests even) and such like the “Union of Independent Bronies.” One guy told me he was going to gather an army of bronies, and do a protest march on Hasbro’s HQ. (Yeah, good luck with that.)
Luckily, I doubt they’ll actually do anything. They’re all talk. (And even if they did, it would just reflect badly on the brony fandom, and make Hasbro & DHX afraid to try to please bronies.)
Very, very true. The primary reason that anti-Twilicorn bronies have a bad reputation is because a handful of bad seeds are the ones doing most of the talking. It pains me to say it, but intelligent arguments against Twilicorn are hard to come by. Hopefully, the season four premier will put an end to this bickering, but I kind of doubt it.
Also, while I’m on the subject, yes, the pro-Twilicorn bronies tend to get unfairly stereotyped, too. All of them have legitimate reasons for supporting the idea, and very, VERY few of them are actually as antagonistic as they are frequently made out to be.
Same goes for the people who don’t hate Twilicorn, and such. Some are trying to stereotype them as “hasdrones,” and saying they’ll accept/eat anything the show/Hasbro gives them, and such whether good, or bad. I’ve had a few try to accuse me of that to…
But yeah, this picture is basically just poorly-drawn straw-manning.
Though, I guess we can’t deny there are some like this… I saw one guy on DA say he would be happy if Hasbro got “bombed.” (Sick freak…) Also, according to his DA profile, he’s in his 30s, and all he draws are MSPaint pony pics that looked like they were drawn by a child…
Something that’s good to remember when it comes to any drama or controversy in the fandom.
-Napoleon Bonaparte
I bring the above quote up because its important to remember that the anti-Twilicorn bronies who repeatedly attack those of differing opinions are a vocal minority. The overwhelming majority of the fans opposed to making Twilight an alicorn AREN’T obsessive, whiny, hateful, entitled a-holes, and it is unfair to lump all anti-Twilicorn bronies together with the few that are.
This is a pretty fair satire of some of the Twilicorn opponents, unlike the uploaded image above.
Sounds about right.
