Just because we knew Twilicorn was going to be present doesn’t mean it isn’t a valid criticism.

There is no need to do anything that pisses the fandom off anymore.  
The fandom is determined to stay pissed off no matter what. You could turn the show into an Oscar-winning ride and many of these people would still complain.
 
I saw it just today in the sticky on /mlp/, there were people genuinely excited (it’s confirmed that it digs out multiple Lauren’s old concepts), lots of reserved or undecided people, and then there were people who went out of their way just to to come up with the most far-fetched visions of doom or plain bitch about the absolutely unexpected fact it revolves around Twilight (it’s not like we were straight out told nine months ago that S4 pilot can for all intents and purposes be considered a second part of MMC, right?)
