While the premise sounds promising, I’m a bit nervous that the mystique behind the elements and the Everfree forest will be messed up. The potential for awesomeness is still there, but so is the potential for the pony version of midichlorians.

Well, it says they’re going to the Everfree Forest, which is where the mirror pool is, which is underground. This looks underground too, so maybe there’s a whole system of underground caverns below the forest, home to all kinds of magical objects, like this tree-thingy and the mirror pool.
