I am saying that Speccy has done better in the past, and that this is far from what he is capable of. It is lazy and there are glaring errors that should be pointed out, since the only thing I see otherwise is thoughtless praise.

There is nothing wrong with liking an artist, but you have to realise that sometimes they make mistakes. If an artist thinks they’re immune to criticism then they’re not going to improve. The attitudes of fans like you are important in this regard because you’re actually defending what is clearly a mistake that can be fixed in minutes. I don’t know why you’re doing that.

“Because I want Pinkie to have the correct number of joints in her leg?”

No, because of your general attitude lol.

Commenting on incorrect anatomy can be a valid criticism yes, but saying that their art is lazy and medicore and you have no idea why they’re so popular is just being bitchy in my opinion.

Because I want Pinkie to have the correct number of joints in her leg? Grow up. It’s perfectly valid criticism, and seeing such a well known artist make such a rookie mistake is very disappointing.

>>“I get upset when people say it could be better”

For the last time, I am not upset because you’re saying it could be better, I’ve even already admitted it could be better several times. I am upset because you you said I don’t care about what I drew.

Please pay attention and think before you type.

By what you just said means that you never ever drew, because if you did you d know how an artist feel about each painting…high quality, low quality, what it really means if you cant express yourself or neither have fun?

@Speccy

>“It’s for myself”

>“I get upset when people say it could be better”

Those things do not match. What you are doing right now is excusing yourself and seeking approval. That does not mesh with your “oh, it’s for me” attitude. It seems to me to be just an excuse for laziness OR lack of knowledge.

Did I not just say? I’m so upset because someone is trying to tell me I don’t care about what I draw, which is utter horse shit.

I could do better but like I said, this blog is not to draw good art, it’s (or was) to make me happy.

I apologize if finding solace in what I drew for the blog is not good enough nor up to your standards but my words still stand.
Background Pony #E521
@Speccy

If it’s all just for yourself then why are you getting so upset?

No, I know you can do better, because I’ve seen you do better. This is nothing compared to what you could do with just a little bit more effort.

And then the comment section became comments replies to speccy, the end.

I don’t care if this is 2 months late, I only saw this now.

You know, you can tell me I don’t care about the quality of my art all you like. To some extent you’re probably right. I know full well the shit I put out is no where near the standards of some of the other stuff I see, there is no need to ‘call me out on it’.

This entire blog, the premise, the ship, the characters. It was for myself. As selfish as it sounds, I did it all because it made me happy, only a small part of me draws to get better, the rest of me, loves to draw how I feel, to express and invoke certain emotions for me and me alone.

I shared it because I was sure I couldn’t be the only one that likes feeling the way I do when I draw for the blog. And I know for sure now that I’m not. Plenty of other people enjoy it for the same reasons I made it for myself, not for the quality of the art but how it makes them feel.

I don’t choose if people are going to enjoy what I do as much as I do, but that is no reason for you to have to call me out on anything. I don’t force them to like it, they just do, it’s out of my hands.

And if you want to call me out on how much of a mediocre artist I am and say that I don’t care about what I do, I will kindly raise both my middle fingers and give you a very blunt ‘Fuck you’ because I absolutely loathe when people tell me I don’t ‘care’ about what I draw, quality or not.

It ain’t personal at all. I’m sure speccy is a wonderful person who is kind and all of that jazz. Unfortunately, to me it’s clear that he doesn’t actually care about the quality of his art, and I think he definitely needs to be called out on it.

Think of it as a balance to the rampant fanboyism that other people are expressing.

I’m willing to overlook the “laziness” you speak of in order to appreciate the cuteness.

On another note, you seem to have a strong personal dislike for Speccy so I’ll leave you to simmer in it on your own.

It’s so damn lazy, you can really see when he doesn’t put effort into it, and I’m not talking about the simple crayon style used in this blog.

I mean, look at Pinkie Pie’s front legs, and her forehead. Those things could be fixed in a couple of minutes. For someone so well known he really lets a lot of low quality content get out there, and I know he’s capable of waaaaay better.

Hundreds of other artists do it far better

While I agree that there are a lot of very talented artists out there who draw high-quality art that I also enjoy, I personally like the way the Speccy portrays this ship as an extremely caring one without any overt sexuality..

Sometimes the message behind the image itself is more important than how the image is drawn.

Honestly I have no idea why Speccy is more well known

Luck of the draw? Lots of friends? I don’t know either. All I know is that I Like Speccy’s art and it seems that a lot of other people like it, too.
