I see your point, but the opening of S4 is supposed to be about Twilight dealing with her status as princess, so perhaps it would address the issue of how her friends see her?

She was babysat by royalty because “A Canterlot Wedding” was a bad episode. The audience was expected to care about Cadance because of a connection she had to a main character instead of because of anything we knew about her.

In the penultimate episode of Season 2, she went from “relateable social recluse with extraordinary potential who needs to learn the magic of friendship to save the world” to “kid who was babysat by a member of the royal family when the leader of the royal family wasn’t busy personally teaching her as her brother trained to lead the entire military.”
 

 
You’re right in that there is no way to determine how she was before she got her cutie mark. But a “grew up in a life of extreme privilege while in fact knowing all about the thing she was supposedly trying to learn” backstory is still completely different from how she was shown before that point; and I don’t find that terribly different from the “child of the elite” point Itsthinking raised. Even if she wasn’t originally one, everything after the earliest point in her life that we know of implies her to have been treated as such from then on.

In the admittedly small total time that she’s been the way she is (including the beginning of EqG) she’s already been treated by her friends as if they are subservient to her; and if EqG is any indication, that her power is now so great that they could be considered superflouous. Not exactly the best start, but other than simply assuming everything will be fine (which has far too many shades of “I believe in M.A. Larson” for my liking) I don’t see what else there is to go on.

Twilight becoming a princess opens up a new realm of opportunities for the show to explore. Will she rise to the challenge of her new title? Will she let the pressure get to her and break down like she has in the past(Lesson Zero)? Like I said I would have preferred Twilight ascend later on I don’t think by any means it’s a bad thing.

I said she HASN’T changed, not that she will not change. S4 HASN’T happened. When you see it, you are free to say she has changed, I will not reject your opinion even if I disagree with it. But until then, any opinion saying that she will/will not be different is BS.

I have watched the show since season one. If you’re implying that the show has gone down hill since then, I disagree. I feel that season three was better than the first and the only way it fell short of the secound was that it had only half as many episodes.
