Both Brann and Cookie are Brann’s friends, so he’s dissing one friend to hang out with another. Granted, he won’t see Cookie for a long time, but he should at least leave Milky a message so she won’t think Brann stood her up.

Anyway, the point of the comic is that Brann chose to go with Cookie over hanging out with Milky. It’s all very romantic and sweet, or possibly they’re just friends.
