Yeah, it’s great! If you swing and miss, so what? The snakes that come flying out pick up the slack. It works on the “dogs with bees in their mouths and when they bark, they shoot bees at you” principle.  
Of course, reloading it sucks pretty hard.

Shining should be beating Flash up with a shield.

You call this overprotective? There aren’t even any nails or snakes in that bat.

They’re going to be going back and forth through the frame, with Shining holding a different weapon each time.  

That’s pretty lax as far as “protective big brother” goes. I always threaten them with lots of knives.
