Hate to break it to you all, but that appears to be a Creative Nomad… A early high capacity mp3 player with a top mounted screen, typically came in white and had no front mounted buttons.

Personally I think most examples like this are just magic being applied in a different form. I mean stuff that’s “enchanted” or whatever to produce various effects is common as hell in fantasy. Normally for various reasons it not used widely enough to become “technology like”. One assumes that’s the case here too, if you just assume that the “I-pod” is merely some device that Vinyl has enchanted it’s not really inconsistent or game changing.
 
It may well be it only even works because it’s some application of her magic talent for music. It might not even work if she handed it to another pony for instance.

Not really since most of the technology runs on “magic” unless confirmed otherwise. I would imagine them being able to make certain components, but the rest is just magic.

Or more specifically, its something that is portable and too small to have reasonable moving parts to make work as expect (counter to the Super Cider Squeezy 6000 which had unicorn magic to power it but still remained a primarily mechanical device)
 
There’s also how its powered; Iron Will’s speakers could be implied to be hooked to an electrical generator that was goat-powered, but that requires the wire connections, which again an iPod doesn’t have. Similarly the various DJ tables, one could assume an active generator offscreen. And while IIRC there have been flashlights (not unicorn lights) on the show, there’s not that much fancy electronics that one could envision a device is charged by unicorn magic to run.
 
Sure, one can go “a unicorn did it”, maybe there’s some spell Vinyl’s prime at to play back music from some gem or the like after she puts it on there, but that’s the highest technology ever shown in terms of both how its powered and how its driven.
