I don’t think I saved the threads, but yes, it was revealed by someone went onto the moderators board that he actually was bad. Not as bad as this stuff makes him out to because this is cartoon villain kind of bad. No the real scruffy was the kind of bad that honestly thought he was morally in the right. At one point he admitted in the mod section that ‘content producers are a dime a dozen, you bad one and more just show up to replace them.’
Unfortunately this was not the case and thus the traffic and content on what was one of 4chan’s quickly expanding boards got moderated to the point of relatively nil. The vast majority of content producers left, never to be heard from again.
Meanwhile, the refuge of mlpchan, as nice as it may be, has very little traffic at all, as most of those who got fed up with 4chan did not migrate.
/MLP/ 4 LYFE YO!
But seriously, Scruffy isn’t as bad as people make him out to be.
tl;…read anyway…
It’s an identifier used on imageboards. In order to use one (on 4chan at least), you type “#[AnySequenceOfCharacters]” in the username field. The website scrambles what you typed into a tripcode, and this is how it differs from a username. The idea here is to have something like a username that you can start/stop using in an instant (which is to say: there’s no sign up process, you just type a code or a name and you’re done), but one that nobody can duplicate to impersonate you and disrupt the thread (whereas an actual username is vulnerable to this), because the only way to get your exact tripcode is to enter exactly what you typed, which only you know.
Keep in mind, on imageboards, being anonymous is default, and using a name/code across multiple threads is considered a disruptive form of narcissism, because it comes off as shouting, “Look at me! I’m special!”.
It’s typically used when keeping track of what you, specifically, have posted is important. For example, if you are telling a story across multiple posts, it would be wise to use a tripcode, so readers can easily follow it, and so nobody can claim to be you and derail the story into…I dunno, buttsex or something. 4chan does that.
basically a special name, rather than a standard one, that shows a unique code after the name for those who don’t want to be impersonated on anonymous imageboards.
Yes, because the shitty fetish generals ended up being half or more of the content.
