Actually, I happen to like Keep Calm and Flutter On. A two-parter would have undoubtedly been preferable, but one of the things I think they did right with that episode is that it wasted no time doing anything other than telling the story it needed to tell. MMC doesn’t seem to care about story-telling, it just kind of says “Here, have a princess!” and calls it a day.

I just hope they’ve had some effort put into them, like This Day Aria or SSCS600, not the kind that are sort of just thrown in there, like I Have to Find a Way or The Failure Song.
No, MMC sucked because it was a two episode story crammed into half an hour. It’s the same reason Keep Calm and Flutter on sorta sucked. If both of those episodes were two parters, they woulda been as awesome as Canterlot Wedding. The songs (which were awesome) had nothing to do with it being lack-luster. There was just not enough time.
Sadly S3 was made along side EQG so the team was stretched thin as it was, which is why S3 was so short.
It’s 15-20 for 26 episodes. That’s far less than one per episode. I think we’re safe in not seeing another MMC-like musical.
Songs for the sake of songs is one of the reasons MMC sucked.
