I can see the entire arc of their relationship in my mind.  
It starts from pure animal lust on Rarity’s, but Gilda finds that having a fancy, confident femme in her talons just feels so right. It takes an affectionate and protective side of herself that she usually has trouble manifesting, and turns it into a given.
