These are some development concepts for a My Little Pony G5 2D show pitch done in 2019 at Boulder Media, before the project was placed on hold.

Neither G4 nor G5 look like ponies, they look more similar to each other than they do to ponies.
are supposed to look like ponies, not human babies,
trying to apply boss baby design logic to ponies is
completely missing the appeal of the usual demographic
that buys pony toys in the first place.
as previous generations but they still work because
they have big round eyes wich is a trope synonymous
with cute animals, so the appeal is still there for
the usual demographic that buys pony toys.
looked at those designs and thought that was nothing wrong
with them, and gave it the greenlight. Everything after
that was nothing but throwing millions of dollar down a
drain of infinite desperation. It was over before
it even began.
