That straight cracked me up.
It doesn’t matter what you think about dragons, Spike show to be different from them in both Dragon Quest and Gauntlet of Fire. This comic is just a depiction that make him look antagonistic.
Eh, that is one of the reasons I love dragons. Whatever they own will stay their own and any who try to pilfer from them will pay for it. That and the fact that they terrorize the country side and little can be done about it without some fated hero or about half an army.

So typical dragon behavior then. Pretty much everything he sees or is interested in would be considered his property and he will do anything to keep it for himself.
He is depicted as a little hatefull and possesive asshole who drive others to suicide and refer to mares as his property.

Splitting hairs, flanderization is still being OOC. But okay.
it’s not “OOC”. It’s called flanderization of characters http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Flanderization like Sweetie normally is a ditz, here she is stupid up to 11. Spike has a crush on Rarity and as a dragon, he has greed problems, here he is an obssessive to the point of insanity. And the world is on the crap-saccharine side of the sugar bowl world.
