Let's go back to this Old Tool because I agree. Context is everything. I have a grandson I often refer to as a Little monkey. Because he climbs everything. One of my best wrestlers I nicknamed the "Spider Monkey" and it stuck for the rest of his wrestling career clear though high school. Because that is how he wrestled. But that context is different. If for none other than they are both white.

But when a racist uses Molnkey in reference to black people that is a different "context" isn't it?

Oh my gawd, buddy - are you REALLY going to double-down on this hyperbole? Really? Did you watch the video yourself? I did - and I watched again two more times just to ensure I wasn't hearing something incorrectly. The quote, verbatim, was, "...the last thing we need to do is monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases and bankrupting the state." He is clearly describing his view of the methodology of his political opponents on the left, not at any one person. Now go back and read the headline - the guy's quote is obviously taken way out of context in order to be inflammatory. If you can't see that, I think you really need to re-examine how impartial you're able to be.

I'll address RawStory's ridiculous attempt to tie him to something ANYTHING racist to rationalize their slimy, unethical journalism in a separate post.

 

Yes I watched the video multiple times and agree with those who contend that he knew exactly what he was saying and why. And had even practiced in his head.

And you can address Rawstory if you want to but it will have no bearing on me using RAWSTORY as one of my favorite sources. They openly admit, or even brag about being a liberal clearing house for breaking stories and no amount of ad homenim attacks changes the fact RAWSTORY is usurally quite accurate.

PS I freely admit that RAWSTORY prides itself in writing the worst, most inflammatory, and often inaccurate headlines in the world. And you are not the only one to notice that. Their terrible headlines are often a subject of attack in the comments section by loyal readers like me. But the stories are usually quite accurate and it would be dishonest of me to rewrite headlines for them. So I just go with them. Because the right wing sites are even worse but I never see anyone complaining about that let alone their out and out lies.
