Wintera Cocoa was adopted about 23 years ago by The Coco Clan, after she became orphaned from her unknown real parents at ~1 week old, at the very end of autumn. I’m still unsure how exactly she became an orphan, and how exactly she came in contact with the Clan, as there are multiple options for both.

It’s unknown why she was born so late when food was already scarce to feed 2 adults, much less also a baby.

In this pic she is ~2-4 weeks old, so she doesn’t have her reindeer antlers yet (me & the artist agreed it would make sense that she should show buds around CMC-age (~7), which I’ll make canon), and this pic is some time after being discharged from the hospital.

She ain’t adopted by a specific subfamily (as such, she’ll be free to visit whoever and do whatever she pleases once she grows up more):

• Everyone takes turns caring for her where possible.
• The Clan rewards whoever from the Clan is able to breastfeed her, cuz that way she’ll grow much stronger, closer to what she should be if she nursed from her real mom.
  • I say “closer”, as while deer-ponies are somewhat different from ponies, they should be similar enough to benefit from pony milk.
  • If all else fails, baby formulas will do a good enough job, but the Clan wants to avoid baby formulas
