Yeah, it seemed more like three different stories with tenuous links.
Really, if what happened in the back half was even remotely broadcasted as upcoming in the first half, thus tying the parts together, it would have been a great story.
You might also want to try Lyra Heartstrings and the Hand of Man. It’s a lot shorter, in fact almost a little too fast paced. It does some things really right though, like how they portray humans compared to ponies. Lyra too is exactly how I imagine her other than the minor (to the story) part about her cutie mark. It doesn’t seem to understand how they work.
My friend said it sucks after the start and he was kinda right. I saved it though by reading the voices of Nathan and the band in Dethkloks voices.
It gets better once JasonTheHuman remembers that stories need conflict. That does take him several chapters, though.
It ended okay, but the second half was definitely lackluster compared to the beginning.
I read through it, and personally while I like the starting concept through the first 10-some chapters, it gets very mary sue and overly sappy at the end. I love the concept and where it was going, but the execution of the last third left a bad taste.
