I don’t think we’ve had a BG or minor character reach 6 since Hurricane Fluttershy (Rumble?). And the only S6 BG pony who appears to have passed stage 2 is Pacific Glow…

The problem I have with #2 is that the storyboard artist, Raven M. Molisee, who worked on “Hurricane Fluttershy” did give the white pony a name: SNOWFLAKE

I only got around to making this near the end of S2. (obviously after Hurricane Fluttershy), and by no means that the pictured characters absolute, just easily spotted representative samples.
 
I’m sure one could spend hours officially cataloging every BG pony into these stages.

4/5 and 7/8 need to be switched. Hub was talking about “find the Derpy” or some jazz on their FB way before Last Roundup. And characterization is implied to happen before tumblrs.

I too remember when Lady Faust descended from on high bearing the stone tablets inscribed with the declaration that Lyra and Bon-Bon were totally gay for each other forever, which was of course the only reason that pretty much the entire fandom which gives a shit about that sort of thing portrays them as romantic partners in everything ever. There’s no way we came to a consensus on that without divine intervention, obviously.

An excellent summary about how the fandom works. Someday I want to have a paper on social media and itd be especially interesting to analyze how communitiees develop their own effective modus operandi spontaneously.

I think Vinyl’s a rank 8 just because of all the youtube music junk and how its ‘related’ sidebar works.  
Near impossible to avoid Vinyl if you’re looking up dubstep crap. Heck even some electronica brings her up. I wouldn’t be surprised if she appears randomly in music club decor and the like too.  
The Doctor will probably be the next #8 after just because of the obvious implied crossover ties.

Interesting, which means there are only six or so at stage 7, and only Derpy remains at stage 8.
 
Octavia, Carrot Top, Bon-bon and the doctor were all referenced in the cards, while Lyra and Dj-pon3 went so far as to have official toys made of them.

I wish TS had a better name. I bucking hate that name. I will continue simply referring to him as Joey Fatpone until I discover a reasonable enough fancy-schmancy dining term.

Most of my favorite characters are somewhere between stages 1 and 3.
