I’d throw in cartoon physics as well, because obviously a friendship themed cartoon revolving around miniature horses isn’t going to take itself as seriously as say, DC comics, who have to constantly maintain this power level status otherwise it leads to problems
Case in point: The new Suicide Squad Game has you kill Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, and the freaking Flash WITH BULLETS because original developers left and the the new ones didn’t read the source material
Unlike Superman and Spiderman, Characters like Twilight, Spongebob, and Bugs Bunny don’t have to be consistent, because they were never MEANT to be grounded, which goes back to what I said earlier

Well it is 2v1, and it’s magical shield vs magical laser. Maybe it’s different, and Twilight was stressed at the time while Spike and Rarity were trying to protect each other. And finally who’s to say Twilight didn’t teach Rarity the magical laser?
They’re glass cannons due to the magic giving them high power not increasing their physical resilience (this doesn’t apply here as it’s magical shield power).
Moving Celestial bodies here requires less energy than in real life (a mere six unicorns were able to do that).
Magic disregards thermodynamics working by “do X” rather than “input the energy to do X” so moving celestial bodies is more skill than power that translates to other feats.

I agree, magic has always been one of the most inconsistent properties to determine the strength of, especially in MLP. You have ponies literally lifting cosmic bodies and then getting no-scoped by a stray magical blast

Except this is one of the Mane Six being superior to the other Mane Six, even though by all consistency it should be the other way around.
Twilight was demoralized at that point unlike Rarity and Spike, which has been shown to weaken their ability. Or maybe their earlier fighting weakened Twilight. Or maybe Spike and Rarity’s magics are more efficient as opposed to more powerful.
The reddit community is very different than the derpi community. On Reddit this got a bunch of upvotes and basically yass queen 💅🏽 comments about rarity
