I always thought it worked a bit like the Dragon Ball universe with Other World and all.
“killed”? wans’t they just send to other world that for some reason resemblems a heaven and a hell?
I’d have the scariest part of this game, for me at least, was when Dimention just pops into Flipside and effortlessly murders Bowser, Peach and Mario in cold blood. Not only did it brilliantly subvert a huge number of video game cliches, it also carries the implication that Dimentio could have done that whenever he wanted to.
