Also, I must agree with your earlier point about it needing a second part to sound proper.
A rarity is something that is rare, in Rarity’s case a rare talent beauty.
Something that is elusive is hard to find, but Rarity is actually trying to be noticed and wants attention. It doesn’t fit.
If something is elusive - avoiding everything - it certainly would be rare to find it, wouldn’t it? Also, some dictionaries have the definition “difficult to catch or find” [emphasis is mine] so it does relate to rarity in some way.

Seriously? Going by the definition, elusive fits Fluttershy better. Elusive always looked like they went with the first word from a thesaurus without actually bothering to think it through.

Rarity’s hair is confusing no matter what gender.
At least the hair here doesn’t confuse me.
Elusive is perhaps the most fitting R63 name.
Why not go the whole way and just name him “Uncommon?”
