Key Takeaways
- Subway's anticipated Doritos Footlong Nachos are finally available on menus for a limited time.
- Rewards members can score free Doritos Footlong Nachos with the purchase of any footlong sub on April 10.
In 2008, Subway launched one of the most iconic campaigns in the food world: $5 footlongs. The jingle, which is probably playing in your head right now, launched the sandwich shop even further into the spotlight as the leading alternative to greasy fast food chains. However, much to the dismay of fans, the beloved $5 value meal was discontinued less than a decade later due to rising market costs.
The Connecticut-founded chain hasn’t been able to return to its low pricing for sandwiches, but it has been hard at work creating a variety of other items, such as the footlong cookies, footlong sidekicks, and footlong dippers, to bring guests more value for just five bucks.
Now, a new (and highly anticipated) 12-inch meal is joining the $5 footlong lineup: Doritos Footlong Nachos.

Subway
Late last year, internet rumors began flying that Subway, known for its “Eat Fresh” slogan, was testing out Doritos Footlong Nachos after food insider @snackolator shared the news with followers.
“Subway is getting wild with the footlong menu with Doritos Footlong Nachos! They are currently being tested in a number of stores around the country and feature Doritos...topped with melted cheese, meat, toppings, and some additional sauces,” wrote the Instagrammer in the caption.
Everything in the test, which ran in the U.S. and Canada, according to @snackolator, must have gone smoothly because Subway is officially bringing the loaded chips to menus nationwide.
On April 3, the footlong nachos, which feature Doritos Nacho Cheese-flavored chips topped with Cheddar cheese sauce, Monterey Cheddar cheese, jalapeño slices, tomatoes, red onions, your choice of rotisserie-style chicken or steak, and Baja Chipotle Sauce, will hit Subway's menu for a limited time. Much like its other footlong sides, the nachos will only cost $5—however, you can add smashed avocado for an additional charge.
To celebrate the launch, Subway is giving customers a chance to try the new Doritos Footlong Nachos for free. On April 10, any Subway MVP Rewards member can score free nachos with the purchase of any footlong sub.
The offer will automatically hit all rewards member accounts on April 10 and be available to redeem on that day only. So, all you have to do is make sure you're signed up for Subway's free MVP Rewards program, then wait for April 10 to buy your favorite footlong sub and pair it with the new cheesy, meat-topped nachos.
Sorry, Taco Bell, but we might have just found our new favorite fast food nachos.
