But Zipp was in the main cast ever since the beginning of G5.

Wrong. G5 didn’t get popular until Hasbro added Zipp Storm to the main cast of G5 ponies.

G5 was mostly ignored by the G4 fans for almost half a year until Hasbro added Zipp Storm to the main cast of G5. After that, boom. G5’s popularity went through the roof.

Of course, adding Misty and Opaline to G5 actually did more harm to the G5 series than help make it better but by the time that happened, Zipp was already popular enough with the fans that they don’t care about it anyway.

And Hasbro already knew that Zipp Storm was going to end up being the favorite pony of G5 anyway.
