Fluttershy would be great, both because she’s a different body model from the others (biggish boobs and soft around the edges) and it would be interesting to see how Stellarator handled that, and also because it’d be fun to see the dialog as Twilight talks her into doing something she’d actually really like to do but is too shy to say so (eep!).

But I’m guessing it’ll be Trixie, because she already knows Juice and is open to sex with multiple partners, and because it’d be easy for Twilight to convince her she’s the only one great and powerful enough to perform the experiment.

The way I see it is this: To massively oversimplify, for your entire life, for reasons we only partly understand, your body is slowly breaking down and wearing out, down to the cellular level, and getting gradually worse at repairing itself. And also every injury never heals quite like it was before.

Their gems are basically a magical part of their bodies that stops that from happening, using the energy they store, so their bodies work kind of like ours, but keep repairing themselves well, like a young pony’s. But with the gems broken, they just can’t work properly, and can’t hold much energy either. So, since their cells and organs and stuff (in pony form) are basically the same as any other pony’s, they start slowly wearing out, just like regular ponies’ do, and at about the same rate.

Because of that, while they aren’t like Wolverine or anything, if one of them got a big cut or something, after enough years had passed, there wouldn’t be a scar any more. Though it would take a while.

They also can get hurt and could die from an injury just like anypony else, they are just VERY hard to hurt, partly because of the magic of the gem also. But if they did get severely injured, if they survived, they would heal, and keep healing and after a lot of time had passed, be back to normal.

Thank you for the compliment!

One unfortunate thing about 3D work is you have to really want/need a character or set in order to go to the large amount of work it takes to make them. Because it really is a lot of work. And (with the exception of the guys!) each rigged model is unique, built specially for the character. I don’t just swap colours. (Though I might just do that in future, since I have a lot of body types now.)

That means you have to plan to use them a lot. That’s why in G5-MYM, you’ll notice that the action keeps happening in the same few places, over and over, even more than it does in a 2D animated cartoon.

So I would like to include more ponies as the series goes on, but I’d have to have a really compelling story reason why I needed them.

This is an excellent story.
Glimmer would make the most sense for the experiment since she’s super magic minded. A great and powerful assistant.
But I’m sure you’ve already decided. Rainbow would probably be DTF, and paybe pinky, but AJ and Flutters probably a bit to reserved for that even though they’re my favorites of the mane 6.

I wondered about that myself.
However, Twilight emphasizes that this is only a ‘proof of concept’ (prototype). I expect that if it works, she will try to scale it up, to duplicate the real (full-power) gems to avoid any possible problems.

Curious, since this version Twilight made only drains life energy “a little bit”, does that mean it would allow for the sirens to live longer than they can now but not quite what they could with their original, unbroken gems, or is it like the originals could fill some sort of “life reserve” more full than this one (i.e. original ‘fills it’ for 100 years of life expectancy while Twilight’s only for 10 so the only caveat is more uses w/ less ill-effect on ponies)?

Rarity would make the most sense; or will one of the other Mane 6 make their debut?
Could it be Sunset Shimmer?
I am hoping for Pinkie Pie. We need a little chaos in the castle.

I like the fact that the testing of the ‘artificial gems’ has to be on an ordinary pony and not on the princesses.

As a rule, possibly hazardous experiments should not be undertaken on your country’s rulers.

It may be impossible to calibrate ‘the machine’ to accurately measure the vast life energy differences and changes between an alicorn and a mortal pony. It would be like trying to detect a small asteroid impact on the far side of the sun.

Those were both more or less my thinking.
Don’t worry though, he gives informed consent.

BTW, Sergeant Pauldron must be around as Luna has gotten into the wine, again. XD

Good memory! That was mostly meant to be when they were out traveling, where she could cause an international incident. XD I like to think she “gets into the wine” rather a lot at home. :)

While waiting on the current episode I’ve been re-reading some of the earlier ones…it’s amazing to me both how complex the story has become, and how coherent it has stayed between the early episodes and the recent ones.

The weird balance of “kind of almost my boyfriend but also somepony I pay for sex, and also I’m a god-princess in training and he’s a regular pony” is interesting to me. There is NO way those two can have anything like a normal power dynamic. So it’s interesting to explore.

Well, this is definately going in a different direction. Worth the wait for sure. Can’t imagine how Twilight is going to handle asking for that: “will you please boink my boyfriend that’s not my boyfriend while I scan you with this magical widget I just created and haven’t ever tested” (which, perhaps, sounds better than “will you boink this guy I pay for sex while I scan you”).

Bigger question in my mind is where the story will go. If Luna and Twilight can fix the gems, will that lead to the Sirens having to chose? And if so, what will Sonata chose - live forever or grow old with Smoothie?
