The various arcs of Friendship is Dragons have been very much a figuring-it-out-as-I-go-along fare, so as I’m writing this arc many years later, it still astonishes me that the consequences of this stem from a remix of Feeling Pinkie Keen.

Transcript:

Princess Celestia: Discord’s new partner is a centaur known as Tirek.
Twilight Sparkle: Can I roll History on that name?
DM: Sure.
(ONE EXPOSITION DUMP LATER . . .)
Applejack: So basically, Discord AND this guy are bad news.
DM: Pretty much.
Rainbow Dash: Man, I /really/ overestimated Discord. I thought he’d at least be the type to want an epic showdown. But nope, here he is, calling in a heavy to do the hard work for him. What a coward.
Fluttershy: To be fair, we’ve managed to get a pretty strong advantage over him…
Rarity: It’s a bit narratively out of left field, but I suppose he IS a god.
Pinkie Pie: <sniffle> I’m just so happy that the session I DM’d is canon.
