The problem is that McCarthy, like Faust before her, wasn’t in charge when the series ended, so whatever her plans may have been are also moot. A shame really, because despite her keeping Sunset walled off in EQG, I consider McCarthy’s run as FiM showrunner to be the high-water mark in terms of quality.

Don’t worry, it could possibly be true if McCarhy could be right about Twilight not outliving her friends. Especially when become the new ruler of Equestria at the end of the series.

Was it though? I remember murmurs of Spike outliving everyone, but not Twilight. IIRC the inclusion of Twilight in that was pure speculation on whether she would succeed Celestia and/or become an alicorn, which back during season one and two, seemed like a long way away.
