I never saw Blackjack as some cool character, from beginning she was scared. That is what drew me to the story in the first place. She felt things were wrong, but 'just don't think about it'. Late story moved away from her introspection and that is when I felt it start going anime like, not something I liked. It could be that she just got jaded by events, but anime like story plot made it go rather ballistic.
Which is why I like Speak so much, Threnody forced Blackjack to the ground and in turn she did the same to her. Last time Blackjack behaved like that was ||when she found out she was pregnant and made her rethink her world view... but still decided to confront death machine thing first in the core...|| I had a feeling a great story plot was lost there.
