That is basically what Sylv and I said when we decided to emigrate to Austria.
We left good, well paid jobs which were ours for as long as we wanted, sure we were not going any higher up the employment ladder with the firms but they were solid jobs.
We left a good neighbourhood in a well known city (Kingsholm in Gloucester) and we knew that we needed to learn a different language.

We could have stayed as we were and done the touring holidays, but we basically said "fuck it; while we are still young enough to appreciate life, let's have a challenge" and being on mainland Europe has given us better access to the places we wanted to see.

 

I've been to New Zealand and I was quite impressed with her beauty.

The place where our legislature foisted $100 million dollars worth of debt on us with Curt Schilling's "38 Studios" debacle, which was dead in a year. Learn their lesson? phawwww... They now look like they're going to grant another $100 million for the new owners of the Pawtucket Red Sox (who are all millionaires), as well as prime real estate that was just freed up when they moved a section of I-195, for them to build a new stadium in Providence.

Taxachusetts? NY, NJ and Conn beat you hands down, then when you throw in the restrictive regulations, NY comes out dead last.

But, otherwise I love Mass much better than the other three for these things that I like about the state.

If not the best, at least the most interesting professional sports franchises.
If not the best, at least the most varied coastal lands, with something for every taste, except maybe California girls.
If not the best, at least the most diverse ethnic cuisine, and the most delicious cold water seafood, bar none.
If not the best, at least the most varied topography, mountains, rolling hills, intricate shore line, not a straight stretch of secondary roads over one mile long.
If not the best, at least the most challenging narrow roads that have never seen a shoulder.

To top it off, my favorite daughter, grand kids and great grand kids live there, as opposed to NY which is home to my in-laws.

 

Basically the entire northeast region is a hell hole.
