The simple Explaination is, it is not the same Universe as G4.
Think at the Mane 6 Concepts, 3 of them even in 3D where 3 of them have a different Race.
Twilight can’t be the Alicorn Princess as in G4, if she’s an Earth Pony.
This would prevent her to learn Magic after she has see Celestia, she would not be able to apply to Celestias School, not able to do the Entry Test and with that she could not impress Celestia or hatch Spike, just because she can’t cast Magic without a Horn.
In my AU I have use this Changes, so Twilight has turn into some sort of a Scientist (similar to SciTwi) and Fluttershy, who is Unicorn was on the Place Twilight has in G4.

The comics are nic but they are not automatic Canon, just because MLP is on it.
Why they should add one or more figures from G4 there, if they are an Fairy Tale in the Movie?
If it is Twilight and she would look like in the End of G4 then it would not fit (explained above).

Naa, the Story of G4 is not that old, so the most still know it.
What maybe even other as me had expect is aome sort of Intro, like it was in the begin of FiM, who explain in maybe 2-3 Minutes what has happen between G4 and G5.
The only we have see was a child Phantasy of the Mane 6 in the Style of a Show with Superheroes or an Comercial Add.
Then theres the Stuff in the Lighthouse, the Staned Glass Cutiemark of Twilight or another Pony (Twilight is not the only who has this Cutiemark) and a Poster of the Wonderbolts.
We not have see any known Places, the Tree of Harmony has turn from a Tree made of Crystal in an real Tree, nopony know or believe in Argyles Research or know anything about Celestia.
I not know who appear in that Book, but it would more realistic if Doctor Whooves apear with Rose or Derpy from the Tardis.

I simple wait for the Special and later the Show, but I not think it will readd the old Cast in it.
G4 is still more popular as G5 so they would not add Gas to the G4 Engine, they want to sell G5 Toys.

Geez. The movie didn’t have enough time to explain all that happened. It was just an appetizer for the special and the main series. If you want to see more connections to G4, you should start by reading My Little Pony (2022) #1 when it comes out. There you will see a familiar figure and even the ruins of what is left of Canterlot.

So I guess Sunny (for me is Sunny still the first who has use this Name, Sunset Shimmer) keep this new Haircolor?
Hope they do the Show better as the movie who was not realy good, because the Storypart was much to predictable, the G4 meet G5 was nearly not in it.
Except the Window with Twilights Cutiemark and the Poster (a glued Paper Poster, who should not longer exist after several thousand Years), the Fantasy Scene of Sunny, Hitch and Sprout and the selfmade Content in the Lighthouse, there was nothing of G4 (I have no Idea is Twilights Feather, Grogars Bell or Starsquirls Painting are the originals).

For me, the best Char in G5 so far, are just the modern “Pinkie Pie” Izzy, the “Diamond Tiara” Queen Haven and the “Ironwill” Alphabittle.

Alternatively, Sunny’s new multicolored hair model can be used than generic words.
