I just don’t know to like it or to hate it, I just find the artstyle be much on the pony life style and I just don’t like that show, and I hope that they don’t go the G3.5 route. At first they tease us with the 3d and now this 2d, can’t we just go back to flash animation?

This I agree with. I watch their videos at 2x speed because they pad out the video for a certain length. But with what information they share, they’ve always been reliable. If it wasn’t for them, Kevin Smith’s MotU Revelations would have been a terrible bait and switch experience for me.

They’re fans of 80’s cartoons like I am so I imagine any one who wasn’t around at the time would find them boring.

I find it funny that people are complaining about people who are complaining about the art style. Why is one group’s complaining any different from another group’s complaining?

You can’t guilt people into saying they don’t have the right to complain by moving the goal post to starving kids in africa. What a load of bs. You just want to shut down conversation because some people’s opinions don’t agree with yours.

I’ll never criticize anyone for liking anything but don’t anyone ever fucking tell me what I can’t dislike. The art style is shit. If you like it, that’s on you. But its shit.

Their videos repeat the same point for twenty minutes. I don’t find the host’s personalities appealing. They contradict themselves at times. I’m not a fan.

Well, at least there is still more 3D series coming, and if the 2D series will be short YouTube videos then it’s probably not the main series. That’s one positive.

People that keep calling it Calarts don’t know much about this bean mouth style.

This style is used for financial reasons. That’s it. After years of animation software development that helped make the art form easier, and cheaper since the days of hand painting behind cells, mainstream still chooses this.

There are a lot of independent talent out there that can brew stuff up at home with far greater quality but mainstream chooses creative stagnation because the bean mouth style is cheaper to outsource.

If you like this style, that’s fine but don’t be surprised why people hate it so much. They probably know more about it than you do.

I don’t like when people usually complain about the CalArts style but … this just looks bad.

Influence is not art style within the context of my post. McCracken used thick black out lines with brightly colored characters. And even then, within universe characters looked different from each other. The girls were round with big eyes. The professor was blocky with sharp edges. Just look at the PPG’s classmates. They all looked different.

G4 took inspiration not just from ppg but from a lot of things and gumboed it into their own style. That’s actually how artists create their own style. Some artists even learn multiple styles.

But this bean mouth shit? Its not 2015 anymore.
