~Chrysalis’s pride and joy with his sire, Shining Armor (who has no idea he exists thanks to Chrysalis’ brain-washing/mind control)

~Was raised to resent his father, thinks Shining cheated on Chrysalis and hates both her and him. Chrysalis and Val shared a relationship where they shared a parent-to-child love for each other only. Chryssi was proud to have her thousands of changelings sure, but none of them were special like Val was. This pure love fed him, and in turn she made sure he loved only her as well, returning the favor to keep her fulll. Once Chryssi died, however, is when Val began feeling that hunger. Without her there, there was no one to harmlessly feed off of. This, mixed his itch for revenge, made him violent and dangerous
