For the past year and a half, almost all Vinyl fanon has her shipped with Octavia. It’s pretty much the same as Lyra and Bon Bon now, with Lyra/Vinyl being the zany highly active one, and Bon Bon/Octavia being the reserved calm one. Even the races match.
 
The ships are freaking palette swaps.

Working with any character costs a lot of time and money. Something that the writer don’t necessarily have luxury of, especially with ridiculous demands from Uncle Hasbro.

Has Vinyl’s basic fanon changed? I ask because I don’t really read fanifics with her in it. and mostly see fan art and comics. Her common Personality of being Wild and Hip hasn’t changed

It is kind of disappointing that they don’t give BPs with characterization of some kind. but I don’t blame them. They have to work with 10 central characters (9 if you consider Spike a supporting character). There are 5 supporting characters and 4 reoccurring villain and antagonists that seem to be planned to be used again.

The might be, at least from a marketing POV. Right now Rarity is the only unicorn in the main cast, and I don’t see that lasting long. Either Twilight is going to be at least partially replaced by another unicorn, or they are going to de-alicornify her.
 
I guess I’ve become so cynical that I have a much easier time believing they’d make a new unicorn character than I do believing that Hasbro would waffle on making Twilight’s change permanent.

It is YOUR fault and no one else’s. A headcanon is a personal thing and letting other people “ruin” a character for you is just plain silly.

They would be better off just changing Twilight back to normal, but they’re not going to do that. They have two new toys to sell now (Princess Twilight and Sunset Shimmer), whereas with normal Twilight Sparkle they have no new toys to sell.

At the beginning, the fanon had some pretty neat ideas for her, but what she has become is something I don’t care for. So, I don’t like her anymore. I don’t like fanon-Vinyl… but she’ll never have a canon personality, so… I don’t like her anymore. Opinions change… so?

Sounds a awful lot like an NDA talking. If she really didn’t know then could have spent 5 seconds to look on Google and said “oh, she’s just a toy.”
