Oh! I thought that was his permanent cutie mark.

It’s still weird that he’s the only pony with his cutie mark on 1 side of his flank that can change depending on what he’s in the mood for. They should have given him a feathered quill with scroll for a cutie mark, that would have made a bit more sense.
