Well yes, Lyra was a bridesmaid, which is someone that isn’t invited to a wedding; they’re part of it. And the chances of Trixie, a nobody known only for being a liar and a laughing stock, working on a rock farm, and ostensibly holding a grudge against half the wedding guests, getting invited to the wedding are, IMO, rather low.

The book was most likely commissioned before S3 started airing, with the only information given to the writer being a synopsis for Magical Mystery Cure. It also omits Games Ponies Play ever happening.
 
All in all the book shouldn’t really be taken as anything more relevant to the show than the little stories on the back of brushables (which state that Trixie and Lyra assisted Cadance’s wedding as guests).

Twilight Sparkle And The Crystal Heart Spell, where basically Trixie teams up with Gilda and acts EXACTLY the way she did in Boast Busters, even though the story takes place after Twilight becomes an alicorn princess. It’s like Magic Duel never freaking happened. I’m no crazy Trixie fanboy, but yeesh.
 
I know some people will probably go “But it’s for kiiiids!”. Like any kid who’s actually seen all of season 3 won’t wonder what happened to her being The Great And Apologetic Trixie. Kids are not that dumb. Kids are not that forgetful. Kids pay attention to this sort of thing when they’re really interested in it. Basically, Hasbro insulted the intelligence of its target audience.

If it was later, sure, but she wants to show Equestria she is fighting on the side of the angels now, and nothing says that more then wearing your sister’s Gold-Sun armor proudly.
