I’m not saying it can’t be done, I’m just pointing out why they didn’t do it. The Games comitee could have spent who knows how much more money hiring this small army of unicorns… or we can just hold the games somewhere else. There is no logical reason for Cloudsdale to hold the games, so I assume the pegasi asked anyway because of something stupid, like honor or whatever.
@SeraphimDawn
Funny, you’d think they would have one of those under the flying school where Fluttershy almost fell to her death, or under the Young Flyer Competition arena where it was known that multiple non-Pegasi were attending, and one was actually competing with a flimsy pair of artificial wings.
@Trickquestion
It almost reminds me of New York trying to get the 2008 Olympics even though they canceled their plans to to build a stadium big enough to host it. It was pretty much a given after they scrapped those plans that they didn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of getting it, but for whatever reason, someone thought they should still send some poor schmuck in front of the committee to say “well, we won’t have anywhere for the athletes to actually compete, but we still think our city deserves a shot at it!”
earth ponies will be out of luck unless they could commission unicorns to cast that spell on them. I’m pretty sure there is a spell one or more unicorns can cast between shifts that can affect the area for a duration of time or as long as the unicorn(s) continue casting it.
@Mayojar77
Twilight had to dig kind of deep to find that spell, so its existence was hardly common knowledge. Also, it would have been a major inconvenience, not to mention a huge safety hazard, if the only thing keeping 2/3 of the athletes and spectators from falling to their deaths was a magical spell being re-cast on each of them every 3 days. The logistics alone would have made planning that games a total nightmare, and that’s assuming that using the walk on clouds spell was even a known option to the games committee or Cloudsdale at the time.
@Mayojar77
For one thing, never assume any old unicorn can duplicate Twilight’s spells, she is well established as an overpowered freak. And even if they could, a massive number of unicorns would have to be working round the clock casting and recasting spells keeping thousands of people from dying horribly, making the Games far more dangerous and expensive.
The pegasi knew they were never gonna get it, but their prideful ways made them at least try.
