In retrospect I can see that, yeah, but this part is not so much a plot hole as something it seems like they overlooked. Yes the episode still works (very well in fact) without the callback, but just a few extra lines could have tightened continuity, reduce the rushed feel of the ending, and added insight to the character’s emotions. Not enough to ruin the episode, but jus a tiny detail finicky OCD types like myself can get caught up on.

Meh, I never really saw Discord as evil. He clearly had the power to do whatever the hell he wanted, and what did he do? Made it rain chocolate and the corn pop. He just wanted to fuck with people for laughs.

Though I am not as vehemently opposed to Discord’s reformation as many of my peers are, I irregardless feel this scene would have been improved with a callback to Fluttershy being brainwashed by Discord when she refused to play along with him, and explain why he didn’t do it here.
