Well, both Transformers and My Little Pony movies didn’t get a sequel because even though if Five Faces of Darkness took place right after the events of the Transformers, it doesn’t mean it would a sequel to the film and Rainbow Roadtrip is not a sequel to the My Little Pony movie despite having the same animation style to the film. And yes, both the movie and special were animated by different animation studios. Rainbow Roadtrip was animated by Boulder Media who infamously animated the entire Equestria Girls Summertime Shorts series (aside from music videos) while the movie was animated by DHX Media who infamously animated the entire cartoon (with the exception of season one and the season two premiere two-parter “The Return of Harmony”), the Best Gift Ever, clip shows, and shorts. For example, in 1986, after watching the Transformers movie, I think many fans wanted a sequel to the 1986 movie, but that just never happened since the Transformers cartoon have ended for four successful seasons of over 98 episodes plus the feature length film in 1987. And in 2017, after watching the My Little Pony movie, I think maybe some fans wanted sequel to the film. But that just never happened because the poor box-office failure of the movie have pushed the makers of the cartoon to cancel the sequel and replace it with a movie-style, hour-long, Boulder Media-animated special “Rainbow Roadtrip” and the cartoon ended for nine successful seasons of over 221 episodes plus two specials, six clip shows, eight shorts, a spin-off series set in a parallel universe, and a feature length film in 2019. Especially when fans argue wether these concept arts made by Boulder Media were either a cancelled sequel to the movie or one of the earl stages of development for the movie. Yep. Both Transformers and My Little Pony have a story-arc that took place right after the events of a film based off on and set during a tv show by Hasbro and end with a three-part series finale. Well, not all movies based off on and set during tv shows have sequels to tv show-based movies. Both Transformers and My Little Pony movies weren’t the only feature-length films based off on and set during tv shows to have no sequel films. Think back like in Arthur’s Missing Pal, Babar: The Movie, Barney’s Great Adventure, the Batman movie based off on the 1966 series and set between seasons one and two, the sequel series to Batman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, The Batman vs. Dracula, Blue’s Clues The Movie: Blue’s Big Musical Movie, BraveStarr: The Movie, Clifford’s Really Big Movie, The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course, GoBots: Battle of the Rock Lords, Doug’s 1st Movie, DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp, Ed, Edd n Eddy’s Big Picture Show, G.I. Joe: The Movie, Hannah Montana: The Movie, The Little Bear Movie, Steven Universe: The Movie, The Suite Life Movie, Thomas and the Magic Railroad, We Bare Bears: The Movie, and The Wiggles Movie, these movies don’t have sequels to the films. Also, Rainbow Roadtrip is not an aftermath of the My Little Pony movie. It was actually the season premiere two-parter “School Daze” as well as the final fifteen episodes of Equestria Girls: Better Together season one, Rollercoaster of Friendship, the first sixteen episodes of Equestria Girls: Better Together season two Spring Breakdown, Find the Magic, and Sunset’s Backstage Pass. Yes, and as a correction, the season eight premiere two-parter “School Daze” from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is truly the aftermath of My Little Pony: The Movie which is based on Transformers: Five Faces of Darkness took place after Transformers: The Movie.
