By that logic fanfiction, fanart, and sites like this and FINFiction shouldn’t be allowed, right? Because we’re using these characters without Hasbro’s permission, right? What Hasbro did was scummy and sick and wrong. Nothing will change that. And it’s funny how other YouTubers like Agrol and ForgaLorga get to keep doing fan animations. But Jan? Nope.
It’s been so long since JanAnimation’s cease and desist. It still hurts me that Hasbro literally stopped him from doing anything MLP related at all. With the way he talked about revealing Button Mash’s mother’s name, his Button Mash series would really have been something fantastic. Too bad nothing was ever changed and we will never be able to see any of JanAnimation’s series becomes a reality.

wow, you’re rude!
Regardless, it was always on topic. I was just describing why this was rightfully cancelled. I wasn’t using you as a ‘sounding board’ in any way, you just kept on replying to me. That was all on you.
Regardless, this is definitely a good animation, even if I feel like the maker should have gotten approval by Hasbro before releasing it. Maybe if they did that, the video could have actually been released.
@Enmity1498
Are you just using me as a sounding board to bounce your thoughts off? I feel like you’re just barely on topic to what we’re supposedly arguing about.
Either way, I think we’ve clogged up the comment section with this debate long enough. Good day.

I don’t think it was, actually. It was their characters. They have the right to use them how they wish. I think that not stiking the creators would have been worse, since it would have been something made with MLP characters without the approval of Lauren Faust, Meghan McCarthy, or any of the other showrunners that worked so hard to make FiM a success. It wouldn’t have been right to take advantage of what they have created without crediting them in some way. Seriously, even in college you should know that, if you don’t cite your sources, or if you are copying material from someone else, you could either get a fail grade or get thrown out.

Couldn’t you say that about literally any copyright strike? What about the many strikes Nintendo makes or Disney makes against those that use their IP for other things?
Really, Hasbro is quite lenient on legality for the most part compared to those other two companies.
@Background Pony #D61C
Well if it was made without Hasbro’s approval to use the characters, then I would say they have every right to use the DMCA, as MLP is made and owned by them. Jan didn’t create any of the characters, only used them for their own story. Hasbro deserves to have a say in that.
I never realized the first part of Pony Rock Anthem’s story boards got animated. It’s great to see, though it can’t help but drudge up bad memories about Hasbro DMCA against Jan that kept us from seeing the full video from getting produced. It still stings after all these years. He’d just finished the story board and was working on all the character assets for it too. :(
So I either like how Applejack was already in there, because she’s just that awesome, or I don’t like it because she’s being treated as a background pony, and for eff’s sake that joke was never, ever funny.
