@Shimmering Spectacle
The Shadowbolts had little to no character other than being over competitive and unsportsmanlike, while also being incapable of learning from their mistakes, and Wallflower tried to ruin the friendships of people who did nothing to her by taking their memories away.
Don’t get me wrong. G4 has had a lot of good moments, but most of them come from Friendship is Magic. Also, people can celebrate any part of G4 they wish, but it’s unlikely that everyone will celebrate all of it.
What part of “this board celebrates ALL of G4” don’t you understand? Equstria Girls is a harmless, innocent show. Period. If you hate it so much, then leave.

Gen 5 hasn’t even started yet. Why do so many people jump to conclusions without giving things a chance?

The biggest “lesson” I remember from Equestria Girls after Rainbow Rocks is forgiving people even when they try to ruin your life and the lives of others for the weakest reasons, which is a terrible lesson if you ask me.
Sunset and the Dazzlings I can give a pass because of how well they were written, but other characters like the Shadowbolts, Juniper Montage and Wallflower Blush were awful.

Yes, because the internet reviewing community HASN’T treated the main show (and the 2017 movie, for that matter) as its personal punching bag from the word go…
rolls eyes
Look, are you really gonna dismiss all the valuable lessons, all the lovable characters, the funny jokes? If so, what the hell are you doing here in the first place? This booru is meant to celebrate ALL of G4, not just the main show.
“Equestria Girls, as a whole, is a disappointing bad spinoff series that tries to leech off the success of Friendship is Magic, but fails from bad storytelling, bad decisions, and a lack of heart or effort.”
Tagline: “The last time we talk about this repetitive series, and bury it for good.”
@Background Pony #7710
It does. It’s a vulgar, gaudy and opportunistic grotesque off-topic tangent that had nothing to do with a franchise called My Little Pony. We latched on the show expecting an alternative to Monster High or Barbie, not some second rate rip-off that actively harmed the G4 Canon with its existence. Hope you enjoy the creepy zoophilia overtones of the initial Flash Sentry corporate mandated pairing. It got the conclusion a corporate wet dream deserved, a cold uncaring dismissal from some suits in Pawtucket who squeezed the cash cow dry and didn’t see the point in investing money in more “Horse but not really they’re in a parallel dimension that coincidentally happen to mimic Mattel successful Monster High toy line”
Main G4 also came from a desire to make money by Hasbro but it got the je ne sais quoi touch that can only come from sincerely enthusiastic creator like Faust who had her faults and bad ideas, I grant you that, but you can feel in the DNA of the show that it wanted to be just a bit more than a command job for Hasbro
When someone posts ANYTHING ELSE regarding Equestria Girls, everyone goes “how adorable”/“how funny” and upvotes it. But as soon as anyone expresses the (perfectly reasonable) desire for Equestria Girls to have a proper conclusion, then it’s downvotes and “boo, Equestria Girls sucks”.
What am I missing?
Personally, Equestria Girls is/was just as good as the main show, and sometimes even better. It doesn’t deserve this kind of venom.
Good riddance
Reminder: Jim Miller (IIRC) She [Sunset] had nothing to her name in G4
Meghan McCarthy quoting Faust: She was very vocal in her disdain for the spinoff
I haven’t been kept up with this stuff in, I don’t know, a year? Was there some kind of official commercial/trailer, or some statement released that says certain things in G4 aren’t being carried over.
I’ve been under the impression and expectation that every single thing about G4 was over with and that was it. Clear the board, start again. After all that’s how this IP has operated the last few decades.
Let’s be clear that these shows are meant to sell toys. If the toys don’t sell, and I suspect they appeal more to people with a very specific liking for girls with horse ears, then there is no reason to keep making either one.
