And fans have to wait for like a decade ever since season 1 for this info to even surface and be confirmed. Whew what a journey.
Edited because: Edited my bile out of it. Apologies.
At least we now have a new place to put on the map - “the Dog mountain” which lies to the north based on what the vegetation and terrain indicate, maybe even in Equestria itself as the ponies ruled in the air and on land, but seem to be little involved with the underground. Now we know that there were diplomatic connections between the ponies and the isolated diamond dogs who, according to the IDW comics, had given up several “mine kingdoms” in older times, which indicates a turbulent time for them - and we know that Celestia despite her diplomacy skills did not have a good relationship with them. At the very least, they have a minimum of respect for each other, so Rarity and her expedition could receive formal invitations at Twilight Sparkle’s initiative.
The mine car is interesting, it suggests that the diamond dogs are not all “stupid” as these are traditionally displayed. For this is a combination vehicle between a mine car and a cable car, which can be rolled on a railway that is carried up into the air through the cables to which these are automatically attached from the roof.
