No offence, Sprout, but Sunny’s right. Sunset, Trixie, Sunset, Tepmest/Fizzlepop and Starlight were just jealous
For Sunset: She abandoned her studies when Twilight became Celestia’s star student.
For Trixie: She was jealous that Twilight was more powerful than her.
For Starlight: She was jealous that Sunburst got his cutie mark and ended up alone, stealing cutie marks in the equl town, and heck even the Mane 6’s, and she time travelled to stop making the Sonic Rainboom from happening.
For Tempest: When she was a filly, she had a scar on her eye and lost her horn and her friends abandoned her. She then worked for the Storm King, who was using her to conquer Equestria, not caring about friendship. After Twilight saved her life, she was offered a second chance to have friendship.
For Flim and Flam: Two bastards brothers who faked about running a friendship university, making Twilight a laughing stock, I think.
For Sombra: He was a bastard villain who wanted to eat the crystal heart, take over the Crystal Empire, destroyed the Tree of Harmony and the Elements and took over Equestria but the Mane 6 stopped him.

There’s also the matter that the earth ponies’ fears of unicorns reading their minds were dismissed as wanton propaganda, yet G4 showed off multiple examples of mind control magic. If the G5 ponies knew of that, it would have made Sunny’s objective much much harder.

Or were the easiest to write as villains, since they’re the ones with active magic. We had one non-active magic user big bad: Cozy Glow, who instead had to manipulate others. And even then, she only became a real threat when her manipulation got her active magic.

Well, if you take the comics into account, the Umbrum (Sombra’s species) are pretty bad but understandable because they are hurt by light magic. Sombra was to save them from their prison. And was reformed.
 
If you were to take the show, that’s nonsensical since he doesn’t even have a story.

Sunset wasn’t evil. Misguided. But not evil
 
Starlight was also misguided but not exactly evil
 
Same with tempest and even Trixie.
 
Sombra I will give you. He’s literally pure evil.

They clearly have a tendency towards unsavory actions.

When Sunny said something along the line of “Unicorns never attack others”, I was exactly like “Well you’re wrong about that part. Trixie, Starlight, and many others kinda… uh…” lol

Plot twist: this realization is what drove the wedge between the pony races in the first place

Do not generalize, they were not only unicorns, in fact if we think about it, most of the villains had horns and magic … and it was also a pegasus.

She was born a Unicorn. You can’t claim a Pegisus that hadhis wings cut off isn’t genetically a Pegasus. Same concept applies.
