Description
Featuring the princesses of the Sparkle family. There are quite a few lol, a huge portion of Equestrian royalty is in Twilight’s family alone. Didn’t include Cadence since she’s not technically blood related
some notes about their mane styles
Twilight Sparkle grows a lion-like mane during the winter. She inherited this trait from her father, Night Light, and passes it on to her niece Love Letter. Her mane is very soft, silky even, and it’s healthiest when her mental health is well. When Twilight’s feeling down or stressed, her mane becomes stiff and dry.
I use a new design for Twilight like all the time, but in terms of mane color I think I’ll actually stick with this. Not so sure about all the markings on her face tho. Also, I know Twi has purple eyes, but I’ve honestly never really liked them and think blue fits way better with her color scheme.
Cassiopeia had a mane very similar to Twilight’s before she chopped half of it off. Her’s is way less thick than Twilight’s is though, and she definitely didn’t inherit the lion mane gene. After destroying Flurry Heart’s horn in a spell gone wrong, Cassie decides to leave Equestria. She doesn’t really know for how long, or where… but she was honestly expecting to leave permanently and find a new life elsewhere. As she adapts to the wilds and lives as a traveler, she cuts her mane super short. It’s straight like Twilight’s, but choppy like her mom Tempest.
She has a few scars on her face - those are from the accident with Flurry. She and Flurry have a matching scar on their snouts, right above their noses. Flurry’s fades a little better than Cassie’s does, but they’re both there for life. Not even their enhanced alicorn immune systems could heal the damage.
Yes, I did redesign her. Again. For maybe the 20th time since I’ve been on DA. Honestly I thought that last one would be the final one, but there was always something about it that just felt incomplete. I said this about the last design, but I’m gonna try so hard to stick with this one because I actually really like it. I took out the orange and yellow from her mane and added in way more purples because she didn’t really look anything like Twilight before and it was just bothering me. Let’s h o p e I just stick with this one :’)
Flurry Heart’s mane is naturally straight, like her aunt Twilight. It was very curly when she was a foal, but she eventually grew out of them. She found the straight style very plain, though, so she regularly had her hair styled in her classic curls, and it quickly became her signature look. After the accident with Cassie, she stops really caring as much about her physical image, and lets her mane do its natural thing.
The color drained out of her mane (and even her eyes) after the accident. For a while, it kept greying, but eventually she got some of the color back (once she found some sense of happiness again). It hasn’t been restored to its former saturation, and she’s not sure if it ever will.
Love Letter is the biggest diva when it comes to her hair. It’s styled so particularly and so perfectly that it’s nearly impossible to replicate exactly. She keeps most of it pretty loose, but the rest is decorated in braids, pony tails, knots, twists, anything that’ll look nice. It’s a personal choice, and she likes to keep things tidy anyway. It takes about 2 hours to do it as intricately as this, and requires the precision of a trained unicorn cosmetologist.
drew some of these during class and decided to color them digitally. In case you’re wondering, Flurry’s blushing because some pretty girl said something to her very informally and she’s not used to common citizens addressing her so freely. Both she and Love have a lot of feathers (even tho Love isn’t a pegasus) because Cadence’s pegasus genes are strong. So they really fluff up, but Flurry especially because Love doesn’t have time to be doing things like “getting embarrassed.”
apologies for my continued disappearance btw, i don’t have much time during the week anymore to draw. idk how i ever did lined work because lining is seriously my least favorite part, and it takes so long lol. but i think i clean up the sketches ok enough that it’s not too messy, and i honestly like how my drawings look better when they’re colored as sketches. i hope you like them too, most of the stuff i post will probably not be lined very often. but yeah, thank you for checking this out!
