Kinda look similar to sasuke and his father who doesn’t give him credit for his efforts.

I doubt that Scorpan would have been made aware of what happened to his older brother, and in a sense of recognition had decided to honor his brothers’ memory for what he once was as a valiant and determined warrior seeking to prove himself instead of the brutish and twisted mastermind that their father inadvertently created.

It would serve as a parallel to what Celestia did to Luna after she had fallen: where Luna was forgotten about altogether, locked away by her sister who didn’t apparently want to confront her own problems and faults to live up to the self-delusion of competence as a Princess, and who had demonized Luna through her darker persona through two national holidays celebrating her defeat, and after 1000 years after the fact that her sister was all but forgotten and what little semblance of any respect or reputation thoroughly and completely trashed altogether; release her in a weakened state to use her as a punching bag for Twilight to fight against to prove her “Destiny”.

The demands … not only does Tirek struggle with his magic, he also has to find himself unable to live up to his father’s expectations as he has to hear this over and over again. It is clear that Tirek wanted to live up to the expectations placed on a prince, possibly because he is his father’s only son as a centaur. But I now see that he is not as physically strong and seems a little too slack as when we saw Tirek in “Fiendship is Magic” # 2 - Tony Fleec describe him as a very young rebellious teenager who did not exactly give the impression of being slack, but on the other hand, we saw that he failed to steal the magic from a unicorn despite mastering the spell. His teacher, Sendak, remarked that Tirek was still too young.

We know that this happened well before Tirek’s connection with Sendak and the kidnapping of the unicorn was revealed to Vorak. But how long? Two years? One year? We see that Tirek has a beard, although Fleecs gave him a thin goatee. It is possible that Tirek was simply not only too young, but also a little weaker than average for the centaurs, this may be the price of having too much magic. We have seen several times as with Tempest Shadow that magic and non-magic are balanced against each other, the young foal that escaped, became a muscular and hard-hitting mare that even stallions feel insecure against. Besides, you could see that he hesitates and is too fading, not least when he has the magic to fall back on.

He just needs more time, and his father would not give him this. Moreover, Tirek must be able to prove himself, and can not receive help from his father because of the royal ties between king and prince in a monarchy where one must prove oneself. It is a hard country they live in, where there is no room for weakness, especially for the centaurs who must be at the forefront of everyone in the kingdom. And besides, it is now clear that Vorak fears the magic of his son, and failed to realize that the demands he placed on his son to become strong outside of it were too early and too strict on a centaur who had to be able to grow first.

No wonder Tirek cracked and rebelled in the end, so that he ended up fearing and hating his father, who had been looked up to early on and wanted recognition. The house arrest was just what made Tirek take the step all the way out to break with his family and seek his own destiny that must have been in the Nether Lands. We know Tirek was an adult when he invaded Equestria. And Vorak got exactly what he feared most, even though his second son Scorpan had betrayed his big brother - this was very hard for the younger gargoyle.

I wonder what happened when Scorpan came home and explained where Tirek had done, and what led to Vorak never being able to see his son again? Maybe then Vorak will realize that it was his fault.

With a backstory like this, it makes sense why Tirek ended up the way that he did.
