I think the moral of the story is “don’t fuck with Cadance.”
I definitely didn’t get all the tags, admittedly, since I don’t know all of them off the top of my head

Not quite. Shockwave is seen in the final page of the comic. And speaking of death, since Shockwave’s toy was discontinued in 1986, after Shockwave yells to all the other Decepticons to scramble, there’s a deleted scene of the original 1986 g1 movie where Shockwave was ultimately killed by Unicron when the chaos-bringer invades and slaughters Cybertron. This bonus scene was full recovered by IDW in the IDW 20th anniversary comic adaptation of the film.
No, it’s just brain fart, really.
Is that a bad thing?
I knew it you were going to say it was in the show X(

The stonesleep spell was brought up in a season 8 episode, where Rockhoof felt like he had no place in the modern era and nearly ended up having himself turned to stone there.
Was issue was this?
Most likely the petrifaction spell is always there.
With the whole “stone sleep” spell Rockhoof tried to make Twilight cast onto him.
So it sounds like that spell was already around even before the invasion.
The question is what were those Orbs specifically made of? After all, they were clearly capable of of bypassing the Storm King’s own magic armor
Actually, the Storm King had these orbs because he alongside the rest of the Storm Army including Tempest and Grubber used these to petrified victims into statues of obsidian.
I knew he was in the end credits, but it was never implied to be captured or enslaved. He was literally absent for 99% of the film

Discord really is in the movie. He appeared during the ending credits since he attended the Friendship Festival in Canterlot and a balloon version of him appeared in the beginning of the film. Even though he was captured or enslaved by the Storm King when the movie could to a good start but later gone so bad when Equestria was under siege by the Storm King and his troops.
Most likely his chaos magic won’t work directly on anti-magic armor(as in he can’t instantly turn them into something that instantly takes them out of commission). And his shock of his magic failing to work on them might have him get hit by a Orb and turned to stone quickly.
The movie would’ve ended in 15 mins if Discord did something. Assuming the storm creatures are not completely immune to chaos magic.
Yeah, it’s a pretty big plot hole. Starlight and Trixie got captured, and Discord wasn’t even in the movie.

Doesn’t explain the times the Decepticons are beaten without direct magic.
And I’m not entirely sure anti-magic armour would be sufficient to completely resist something like that.
Well in his Defense the Storm King had anti-magic armor and had already ambushed the Princesses and petrified.
But yeah Littleshy points out that Storm King was outnumbered so there’s a plot hole
I mean, I know Tempest had the orbs, but if the Ponies were like this in the movie, the Storm King would’ve been shitting bricks.
Duel of Fates.
Good point. However, it raises the question of how long Starlight could have kept the spell in place before it wore off?
It seems like just another plot hole, but i like your theory better
(Oh whoops, I missed this reply for a while)
My handwave is Starlight had enchanted those jars as a measure to contain them, and the difficulty of keeping them contained rises as the quantity increases. The vault seemed to be harder to break than the jars, with an Equalized Double Diamond needing a running start on the staff throw to break it, and the jars broke easily by falling a short distance. Enchantability might’ve been a factor with the stone choice, the more secure nature of it, needing less spell maintenance to uphold.
(hoping that makes sense, anyway)
I noted in “Rock Solid Friendship” Starlight stated she needed a Super Powerful stone that could hold the Cutie Mark Magic of her village, so I’m sure there’s more to that spell than just removing cutie marks.
My only question is how she tried to runaway with the main six’s contained in Jars?
Cadance does seem to have a decent balance of skill with offense and defense. She helped Shining Armor repel that changeling army with the recharge, held off Sombra with a shield, she kept up with Twilight with the Tatzlwurm, she leapt forward to try to protect the Princesses, and she was likely going for offense against Sombra before Shining Armor nonverbally stopped her (because “hostage”).
Shining Armor, ironically,
or perhaps not so?seems to generally get defeated regarding magic when he’s trying to directly attack his opponents, with that pudding in Best Gift Ever being like the only time it didn’t backfire on him, when he attacked it twice, (once to get him and Flurry into safety, once to save Twilight from being blindsided). Not that I doubt his offensive abilities, ability to pack a punch, be it physically or magically (he only lost against Sombra, who weaved around his attack, and Tirek, who… is Tirek), seeing as he seems to basically be a knight and all, but it’s the pattern there.Starlight would probably be a multiclass of Mage/Thief, because of her proclivity for agility and such.
I’m left wondering with Starlight if it’s possible to passively counterspell her Unmark/Equalize spell, provided one knows how it works and that they might encounter it (if anyone can figure it out from being subjected to it, it’s probably Twilight). What got me thinking about this is how Cadance had a passive health bubble spell going in Three’s a Crowd, and how paralysis spells are rarely used in fights, and if there’s a reason behind that other than “didn’t think about it.”

So only a cover appearance and that’s it?
And nothing for Luna either?
