@Vree
Green and red isn’t necessarily better in this case; if someone is trying gain honest critique from here, a green would signal over-leniency on preferences, where red is over-critical (or just trollin’). A balanced is what they would look for.
I’ve made a ton of downvotes for junky troll post spam, but it’s not much affect since I always find several artworks I like everyday. I use the favs for the exceptionally enjoyable.
@BigMax
Well what others do with their votes is none of my concern. I’m still going to hand out plenty of both colors.
If anything, having to think about the impact of yay-neighs to your rep make them more meaningful than before; maybe they’ll be less in number, but each vote is greater in influence.
@Cgeta
Yeah, the same of BPs. I have 11 too.
Meh. And I mostly upvote, so I don’t get it. Of course I can’t compare to Roboshi, so I think the scale should be aligned to a user basis.
Foltering out downvote spammers is something IMO that should be done on the back end.
But otherwise upvote/downvote says nothing about the reliability of one person. Say I like to go through the whole front page and upvote every image, my color will be happy green and obviously I will be a very reliable person. …Not, because I was just clicking mindlessly.
Similarly, if you downvote troll spam, you are actually doing something helpful because you are signalling to the other users, “you do not want to waste your time opening this”. A lot of the time when I see a bit of text I do not have to waste time enlarging it, I can just take a quick glance at the scoring and move along if I am warned. Why should a person be discouraged from doing that?
Who decided that more upvotes is better than more downvotes anyway?
Plus it may urge some people to vote or not vote just for the sake of changing their color, and you won’t be able to control that.
