This is a long description from DA. Thankfully, my main man Google was up to the task (provided I split it into multiple parts)

Kirins are the product of a magical and physical crossing of dragons (we call such dragons Oriental, but not in the MLP world), ponies and deer. Appeared in the west of old Equestria, thanks to the ponies living there, and the dragonicus Cosmos. They experimented with kirins for several decades, until one day Cosmos left these lands (she got bored). The Kirins, filled with anger for their suffering, killed almost all the ponies living there and moved towards Equestria, destroying everything in their path. Although there was a massacre, Equestria still survived and sent the kirin back to the territories where they lived.

At the very beginning of their existence, kirins were extremely diverse, but at the moment 5 body shapes have been preserved. You can see their rarity in the picture. They can mix. Only one kirin had the legendary body shape. But there were a few kirin that had only one feature from the Legendary form, such as paws, an ethereal mane (like Celestia and Luna).
Kirin have stereotypes about different forms. For example, a form with three horns - such kirins are more aggressive, warlike. Kirins with only rear horns - they are more wise, thoughtful, philosophical. Kirins who have a legendary form will be great beings, make some great discovery, and so on. (Like alicorns on ponies)
The 2 rear horns cannot use normal magic. They are just like two horns on a dragon. (To fight, to protect, etc.)

Their scales are stronger in strength than skin, but weaker than those of an ordinary dragon (or an Eastern one), but you definitely can’t cut it with a knife. As a small kirin grows, its scales shed off to grow new and appropriately sized bodies. They are often kept in chests as a memory of growing up (and also because they are beautiful). When a kirin is already an adult, the scales do not fall out on their own (Unless you have some kind of disease). If you accidentally pull out a scale, then a new one will grow in its place. Pulling out one scale in pain is equal to pulling out several hairs (from the mane), that is, not very pleasant.
Kirin Scale is an ingredient for potions and rituals.

Kirins, thanks to dragons, are more fire resistant than, for example, deer, ponies and others. Because of this, if they take a shower, drink tea, then they need hotter water than other creatures. For a kirin, this water is warm, and for a pony, it is boiling water. Because of this, saunas have separate pools for kirins, and a separate one for others.

They are omnivores.

Kirin magic is divided into two categories: ordinary and auric (sorry for the names, I don’t know how else to call it).
Ordinary magic is ordinary magic like ponies/unicorns.
Auric magic is special magic. The fact is that each creature has its own aura, which consists of several layers. For example, an emotional and mental layer (depending on what emotions / thoughts you have, the layer will be the same).

In fact, it is not known what an aura looks like. It’s just that the kirin’s brain and its magic helps to turn the look of the aura into something understandable. Aura colors do not depend on the creature that owns the aura, but on who is looking at the aura. For example, if a kirin believes that green is the color of joy, then the aura of a joyful creature will be green, and if red is the color of joy, then the aura will be red.

Ordinary magic and auric magic are not balanced, someone will have more than usual, but someone will have the opposite. In the picture, I drew which form has what ratio of magics (for example, the legendary 40 ordinary and 60 auric).

In fact, kirin who have more auric magic speak less on average than regular kirin. A few reasons:

Kirin, under the influence of strong emotions, turn into a nirik - a kirin engulfed in flames. The flame is not ordinary, but magical and directed. It does not scorch those kirin that the nirik’s wrath is not directed at. Those. if two kirin have turned into niriks and are fighting, and then they accidentally hit you, then you will not get burned.

The Kirinov have a presidential republic. But they have not one president, but two. They are called Leaders. One Spiritual, the other Physical. The spiritual leader is responsible for enlightenment, education, religion, etc. The body leader is in charge of military forces, defense, etc.

Their religion is a mixture of Taoism, Hinduism (aura), Buddhism and Shintoism.

On the territory of the kirins live not only the kirins themselves, but also other intelligent ones: serow (second in number after the kirins), ponies (there are few of them) and other minorities.

many centuries have passed since the appearance of the kirins, so the hatred of ponies has passed. However, there is still some tension in external matters between the kirin and ponies (for example, ownership of the territories where the kirin live).

Surprisingly, kirins and deer are quite friendly to each other. Kirins and deer value each other’s calmness, love for nature and balance.
