Description
Leni, being the good hearted sister, decides to find the animal Lola has been searching for. Now she has found it, and the best part, it even has wings….. however, it’s from something that’s not getting a great first impression. In fact, it’s often compared to a certain trend on Cartoon Network which has happened since 2013.
But if you ask me, I don’t care what many of you say. Pony Life looks so cute, especially Twilight Sparkle. But I will admit, the first episode “Princess Probz”, I have no idea what was going on in the show. It’s just too bonkers and not enough focus. The second one however, “The Best of the Worst” did get a laugh out of me. Also, compared to all the other unnecessary reboots to great shows, Pony Life does look pretty cute. And trust me, when it comes to anything bad MLP related, I HAVE SEEN MUCH WORSE!! But I will also say that it can go either ways. It can go the same path as Thundercats Roar or it could go the path of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a rocky start but getting better overtime.
But if you still not that keen on seeing Pony Life, I’m not going to argue with you. It’s not for everyone. But if you are willing to give Pony Life a chance, go for it. It’s not like it’s sending any bad messages or anything. If you like it, fine. If you don’t like it, that’s fine too. If you don’t like the entire MLP franchise as a whole, that’s also fine. We all have different opinions on which we see in media.
But people, please stop calling it the “CalArts style”. It was an insult created by Ren and Stimpy creator, John Kricfalushi to stab at anything that’s Disney related, including the Disney Renaissance. And keep in mind, several well known artists who don’t normally draw the bean smiles also attend CalArts like Tony Bancroft (supervising animator for Cogsworth from Beauty and the Beast, Iago from Aladdin and Pumbaa from Timon and Pumbaa) and Lauren Faust (creator of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic). Also, some cartoons with the similar artstyle like Steven Universe and Amazing World of Gumball are made by those who don’t go to CalArts like Rebecca Sugar studied animation in New York and Gumball was made in London, UK. You can call it another name like “Bean Smile” style or “A little too overboard with the cartoony” style but stop saying it’s a CalArts style. It’s about as accurate as calling “animation” a “genre” and not a “medium” or calling a gorilla a “monkey” instead of an “ape” or “primate.

Lori wouldn’t.
Then why bother commenting about it?
