Don’t you need the –no-preserve-root option or it’ll fail? From the manpage:
   `--no-preserve-root`
          `do not treat '/' specially`
   `--preserve-root`
          `do not remove '/' (default)`

Seems to vary between distros and even distro releases. In any case, it’s better to have it so it’ll do the job for sure.

…I need a cheap throwaway computer to test killer code on.

@HJSDGCE
Because I wanted to see what I could do.
Also used it to promote my account to admin, stole every student’s password who ever used that computer… and as a final laugh, I downgraded the actual admin’s account to a standard one.
All on my absolute last day of school… on a fake profile :D

This isn’t DOS.
It’s Cent OS, a Linux Distribution. :)
Although considering the command that was just issued, it won’t be running anything soon.
(This first command gave the user total control, the second wipes everything on the hard drive)
