People hoping this is “sending Nintendo/Sakurai a message” probably don’t understand Nintendo doesn’t usually pay attention to fan-tournaments, and probably doesn’t even know it exists. (Especially, because Sakurai lives in Japan, and is working from home currently.)

I still like SSBU, and honestly just playing online isn’t everything. Plus Sakurai wants to improve it in future updates. So no need for the duckery.
 
Honestly, people are overreacting over the Blythe inclusion… (And frankly the character does have fans, and at least isn’t a Marth/Ike clone.) If you hate the whole game for that, then you’re ridiculous. (Nevermind people were going crazy with joy over Joker, DQ Hero, Banjo, & Terry)

seems like the golden times for Smash is starting to end

As i say Smash is getting so much bad luck  
now that’s they are out of EVO everyone is glad about that someone say that “this is for the Byleth inclusion” oh lets not forget they are glad be beause of the terrible 10 to 13 frames netcode it has and people are still say to Nintendo #FixSmashOnline but they don’t listen

Ironically, I’ve seen mods here criticise extreme “SJW”s, (though, I don’t like using the term “SJW” anymore, because that term has gotten kinda poisoned by people whom accuse everybody of being one, kinda like what you’re doing…) and guys like you need to understand there is a thin line of being “Too overly P.C.,” and “being too un-P.C.”
 
In fact, honestly I feel “retarded” is less offensive then calling somebody “autistic,” because that’s an actual medical disease/term, and some actually have it here. In fact, I always found it weird that people online replaced “retarded,” with “autistic” in an insulting sense, and somehow think that’s more “acceptable” to use. Though, I guess it’s not nice to refer to people as either.

Yeah, nothing against echos, but the more unique “Luigis” with different moves, and similar moves that function even a li’l different are better.
 
At least, the “clone character” hate/stigma died down over the years, and surprisingly, the new echos like Daisy & Ken were pretty well received.

When I was a kid the “R” word was honestly not considered as bad as say… Most of the things people say on this site.  
Nowadays, some act like it’s worse the “F” word, and such, which still kinda baffles me… I mean, I understand some see it as a slur, but I have a mentally challenged friend who’s used it before, and acts like it’s no big deal.

I dunno, I think Isabelle is unique enough, (more then say Dr. Mario, or Toon Link) and she was a popular requested character too.  
I disagree that making her an exact Villager echo would be “better,” if Isabelle was an exact echo of AC Villager, I don’t think I’d like her as much, as I think I like her abilities, and item attacks are better, and she’s less tricky to use. (Her Gyroid mine, is much better then the stupid tree.)
 
I think I prefer characters like Isabelle, & Wolf whom have more unique moves & handle differently over echo characters frankly, whom are almost carbon copies. but very subtle differences.  
In fact, aside from the animations, I can’t tell the difference between Samus & Dark Samus.

The ones upset with Ridley’s inclusion didn’t make any sense since the only claim they had was “he’s too big”, which was illogical.
 
However I CAN understand Isabelle. While I don’t mind her inclusion, a fair few people pointed out that her moveset is hardly any different from the villager and even shares techniques with them, albeit visually different. So I can understand the angle they come from. Many said that she should have just been an echo fighter of villager, and I can understand that as well.
 
Which also bothers me; the Echo fighter thing was toted as some great feature, but we have, like, all of 6 echo fighters.
 
Could there be a plan for Echo fighters to be added to the roster? I know I’d enjoy that.

Eh, as I said even some highly requested characters were met with some drama, so honestly some will get mad, no matter what.
 
Heck, I saw people actually upset about Ridley, Isabelle, and such.

I can tell you’re going to nay-say anything I say or downplay it since you’re defending Byleth’s inclusion with “duck hunt dog was an advertisement too”, but I’ll let that slide and tell you this.
 
If what you say about the Arms character being “new DLC to both smash and arms”, people are going to be very mad.
 
Regardless, starting the second pack off with an Arms rep is a very bad move when you need a highly requested inclusion or unforeseen crossover.

Well, technically DQ “Hero”‘s default is the latest version, and is advertising the latest DQ game on Switch.  
Also, just because a character “advertises” a series doesn’t make them bad. Corrin, Ike, and Roy, were also guilty of that, and fans liked them. Heck, it could be argued Lucus was advertising EarthBound 3 back with his Brawl inclusion, (in fact, you had to unlock Ness, while Lucus was default) or Inkling advertises Splatoon. Even Joker has a Switch game now.  
Heck, “Duck Hunt” dog even kinda advertises the WiiU rerelease of Duck Hunt.
 
Some thought having only 3 “Star Fox” characters was “too many,” yet fans had a cow when Wolf O’Donnell wasn’t included in the previous SSB games. We have 4 Metroid characters now, and some argue that’s “too many.” There’s always “too many” of every series in SSB, so those whom aren’t fans of those series will always complain no matter what. So that’s not just the case for FE.
 

 
If you’re arguing only “popular/requested” characters/series deserve to be in SSB, that’s a bit unfair too, (not to mention FE is insanely popular in Japan, and does have a large cult following in the US, and other countries) as the SSB series introduced many to new/overlooked Nintendo & such game series. (In fact, SSBMelee is why they started releasing Fire Emblem games outside Japan.)  
Nobody requested Ice Climbers, ROB, Mr. G&W, or even Snake, yet regardless if anyone played their original games, or not, they’ve become fan-favorites, and I’ve enjoyed them too.
 
Not to mention, not everybody wanted those “popular/request” characters either, in fact I saw some were upset about characters like Ridley, or Cloud getting in, especially by those unfamiliar with them. (Remember people used to mock fans whom wanted Ridley? “TOO BIG!lulz!”) So even “popular” characters aren’t safe from drama. I recall, Sonic was met with BOTH praise, and drama too, and he was one of the first highly requested characters included.
 
Also, I don’t think they could just make all the ARMS characters “costume swaps,” as some like Lola Pop have unique abilities too. (Like her balloon suit, and such.) I actually speculate the new ARMS character could be a new DLC character that will be included in ARMS too, and was probably made to be more “SSB friendly.”

The FE game Byleth comes from had DLC announced and was used strictly as promotional material.
 
Compared to Joker, Hero (he can be several different DQ mains and is a general celebration of the series), Banjo, and Terry, Byleth is the only one who was outright put in only as a marketing tool. Add that with the fact that smash fans in general are sick of fire emblem characters, especially from the new games, and smash pack 1 ends on a whimper.
 
I’m not saying there aren’t ARMS fans, but the smash community needed something to knock their socks off with such a poor end to the previous pack. Did we get a trailer? Did we get an unexpected crossover? Did we get a long wanted character? No, we got a lethargic “Oh, by the way, we’ll be adding an ARMS rep to the game as character 1. Bye!”
 
ARMS is amusing but it’s not mind blowing. The characters haven’t been wanted in smash for years upon years. This isn’t Megaman, Ridley, K. Rool, Cloud, or Banjo.
 
Do you see what I’m getting at?
 
I hope the arms rep is a bowser jr case (hence why they didn’t list the specific fighter) and is one moveset shared among 8 skins. This is because I want lola pop to be one such skin as she’s the only Arms character I like.
