You’d think, but there are an absurd number of people that filter out that sort of content entirely (ie. non-canon characterizations of canon characters and OC-heavy/only stories).
 
As for mistaggings, proper tagging is everyone’s responsibility. I’ll look into it later today if no one else has yet.

pixiv is tagged because the artist names are often in non-ascii characters or vastly different from the ones used in more “western” sources.
 
tumblr is tagged on images only when they refer to the AU of whatever blog it’s coming from and require knowing that it’s a different continuity.
 
Other source-related tags are only used when they pertain directly to that source; the deviantart, for example, is not used for image that originate from DeviantArt, but for images about the site, its users, and primarily drama (which is something we don’t want on the Default filter).
 
This is not an image that relates to reddit, other than that it’s its source (as seen in the source field).

Why shouldn’t it have a tag indicating where it came from (as many images under the tags “4chan”, “deviantart”, “pixiv” and “tumblr” do)? Why does the default filter filter “reddit” (other than because Reddit is a pit of retardation and stolen content and would never produce something like this to begin with)?

Removed reddit tag as the picture has nothing to do with Reddit except it being the source and that prevented it from showing up with the default filter; which is silly.

Why is it, when I go to the Derpibooru Lists (or More Lists) page, where you can see the top-scoring and top-commented images for the past x hours/days/weeks, this image is missing from the list of All Time Top Scoring?

I agree on removing the ‘adorable as fuck’ tag, it really bugs me. I guess it’s tricky because tags are both informative and comedic, and some people like vulgar comedy. But, given how awesome Derpibooru is at filtering things people don’t want to see (one of those things being ‘Vulgar’), it feels a little jarring. I prefer ‘weapons-grade adorable’, myself.

Damn if that isn’t the most charming thing.

If you just want thumbnails to be more utilitarian in their description, why not simply give some tags priority in their listing for thumbnails?

Nonono, there has to be a thread first. Why? The moment I do this, people are somehow able to find the Site and Policy subforum, and before I can post my thing there will be half a dozen threads. There will still be half a dozen threads anyway because people can’t read, but that’s something different.
 
Anyway, it’s not gonna happen for at least another week or so but for now can we all just agree that mouseovering this image and seeing  
Tagged: animated, artist:marminatoror, edit, just for sidekicks, nuzzle, rainbow dash, saddle bag, safe, scootaloo, upvotes galore, wall of faves  
is so much more useful than whatever it is now?

Pre-emptively before the thread is even made, my suggestion would be to merge all the basic tags (any number of w’s daw, cute, adorable, any number of n’s hng) into “cute” or eliminate them entirely, merge all the extreme tags (cute as fuck, weapons-grade adorable, weapons-grade cute) into “adorable as fuck”, and leave all the individual ‘betes’ type tags for specific characters, because that’s something I know people deliberately watch.

I actually don’t get the sense of the adorable as fuck tag in general, since fuck is considered a bad word and all, and this gets tagged on safe images which should be in the TV-Y mode filter. And Y means basically no swear words, regardles the context. :p

I think it is good to delete useless tags, like the daaaaaww, dawwwwwww, hnnnng and so on. But the adorable and cute tag I think are ok. Maybe they should be merged, since the are basically synonymous.
 
I even don’t know what the tsundere tag is supposed to mean.  
And heart attack or this will kill you doesn’t really apply here either. Those are kinda misleading euphemism to imply that this is so cute it will give you a heart attack or that it could kill you. But on the picture itself you don’t really see such a content. Therefore it is misleading and should be deleted.  
So we have a lot of useless tags that implies cuteness in various degrees without a clear pattern. It’s just a cluster of synonyms.  
So yeah this needs a cleanup, but the cute and/or adorable tag itself should stay.

Continuing on this quest to make tags more readable again, after having gotten rid of 2000 upvotes etc, the cute etc tags are next!
 
I did a bit of checking, it seems about 30% of my faves are (imo) cute but not tagged with any cute-related tag. That’s about 10k images, almost as much as there are image tagged cute in total.  
The bottomline? It’s a pointless tag, way too subjective, and with the amount of tags there is now, it’s time to get drastic.  
Expect a thread about it to pop up in a week or two, or perhaps I’ll be nice and wait until everyone’s back from holidays and whatnot, but imo this nonsense has gone on long enough and it’s time to get rid of them.
 
PS: also nuked over 2000 upvotes again. To whoever felt necessary to add it, why don’t you search for upvotes.gt:2000 instead.
