The worst part? Since the show will most likely never address that issue (considering how they are not even allowed to openly mention death) we will never be sure whether this will happen or not.

Pretty sure that’s the case. Lil’ Luna was, basically, stripped of all power. By S2 she regained some of what was hers.

What if…the only thing keeping Celestia and Luna alive is their magic and if they use almost all of it, they die or become normal and die of old age?

Luna aged since reverting from Nightmare Moon, even though that was partly explained as her regaining her magic.

Pretty sure that the only immortal ones are Celly and Luna, because they seem to be the Ying and Yang of the Equestrian universe.
 
Cadence aged visibly, compared to what she looked like when she was Twilight’s foalsitter.

What if alicorns only live as long as the thing they represent exists?  
Celestia dies when the sun goes out, Cadance dies when love ceases existing…
 
Twilicorn’s gonna outlive the universe because magic never runs out.
